The power of actually seeing IT. Visual modeling that delivers real-time insight, so you can simply plan and manage your data center.
The synergies between MergePoint™ Infrastructure Explorer software and Avocent’s portfolio of products consist of the management of devices that are already integrated into data centers around the world.
MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer can be configured to work closely with DSView® 3 management software, Power Management, Asset Lifecycle Manager and the hardware portfolio Avocent has to offer.
By leveraging the power of Avocent’s portfolio and the associated infrastructure hardware, you have the ability to successfully manage your environment within the data center or around the globe.
No other vendor offers the combination of robust data center planning, change management and integration with Avocent’s active infrastructure products.
KNOW – The authority you need to command all your assets
Validation, reconciliation and aggregation of data from multiple heterogeneous sources into a central asset repository
Quickly assess the “state of IT” with information such as power and HVAC utilization
PLAN – The power to visualize “what if”
Keep track of and manage relationships between assets and dependent data, including the transition between lifecycle stages
Virtually move and alter data center layouts from the floor to the rack to the individual component, then see what effects those changes have
MANAGE – The insight you need to reduce risk
Proactively manage compliance with tracking of operational, financial and contractual aspects of each IT asset
Actually see how an asset is working (or not working) and see whatever is being displayed by currently running programs
Dynamically Monitor – Using application integration, MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer displays dynamic monitoring of environmental characteristics such as heating, cooling and power
Visual Modeling – Significantly reduces the time to respond to issues and plan changes; view the data center's racks and individual IT elements within a rack, including detailed visual information to aid in the day-to-day operations of the physical data center (e.g., email server is in row 3, rack b, U 20-24)
Planning and Design – Ensures optimal configurations are readily available and enables data center optimization for space, power, weight, heat/cooling and network; create multiple “what-if” scenarios to understand the impact of a change or addition to the data center
Asset Identification and Location – Increases response time and reduces labor costs; search for assets by type, domain name, IP address, etc. by providing the physical location in addition to other general asset information; provides specific information for locating a device (e.g., recalled power supply type-x–visual indications of which racks and servers need to be worked)
Capacity Visualization – Improves change-management quality and lowers cost of planning and documentation; see at a glance available capacity and potential issues for space, power, weight, heating/cooling and network; provides accurate information for planning and reduces time needed to implement additions and changes to the data center
Equipment Library – Dramatically reduces the effort and time for defining infrastructure models and assessing impact of changes; draw from a master library of more than 4,500 distinct devices; delivered solution can precisely describe your specific environment, including high fidelity front and rear images, size, weight, power usage, BTU output, etc.; feeds data center capacity metrics and showing details of assets for hands-on operations and maintenance support
Data Import – Leverage the value of current information; import existing data center information (.xls files) to speed and simplify implementation
DSView 3 Software Integration – Maximizes the value of existing Avocent investments; launch KVM or serial sessions to assets connected with Avocent hardware; moves the tool from a visual planning and recording tool to a functional interaction with the environment
3rd Party Integration - Application and Partners have the ability to integrate through API calls within MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer. For example, RF Code Connector for Infrastructure Manager integration
Reporting - Provides visibility into assets, business line costs, capacity utilization and impact analysis.
Screen Shots
MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer's screen shots are graphical pictures taken of the application functions. This may include the specific actions, functions and characteristics. It may also include whatever is being displayed by currently running programs.
Timeline
When more than one rack is selected, MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer will provide comparative information and help quickly identify various metrics on the racks.
Network Connection
This view will show the connection between network devices down to the port level.
Calendar Tooltips
This view will show the status of the capacity in the data center.
Inventory
This view displays the current inventory in the data center.
Graphical Assets
Reports show the records the procedure adopted and results obtained from a technical activity or investigation produced by MergePoint Infrastructure Explorer.
