ClaroLingo is focused on supporting people learning English and other languages. ClaroLingo is another new development from the assistive software company behind ClaroRead, the easy-to-use software solution for supporting students who struggle with reading, writing and learning.

Building on the technology perfected for ClaroRead, ClaroLingo uses a high quality, human quality voice that speaks text aloud to help those learning how to pronounce words. ClaroLingo is currently linked to a wide range of language dictionaries from partner Harper Collins, and other dictionary content can be added. It includes an extensive homophone checker, giving extra support for checking the many hundreds of confusable words in the English language.

Benefits of ClaroLingo

ClaroLingo can be described as "assistive software for language learning". It can be used at any time, in addition to your normal language learning materials.
Clarolingo allows easier and faster studying in English for students and other users, where English is a foreign language. ClaroLingo can also reduce student and user support time by offering translations, proofreading and pronunciation examples on their computer.

Key Innovations

A key innovation in ClaroLingo is the hover feature. As a mouse hovers over a word, whether this is in a text document, e-mail, web page or PDF file, the program uses a special technique to ‘capture' the word. Immediately after capturing it, ClaroLingo can speak it with a human voice, translate it and search on the internet for more information (see screenshot below).

Text to Speech Features

ClaroLingo speaks back text as it is typed, allowing the user to check and proof-read their work quickly and easily. Text can be spoken at any point by highlighting individual sections of text and pressing Play - great for proofreading. Close integration with Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer means you can click and play at any point in a document. Spoken words can be tracked using a custom colour selection.

Check Features

ClaroLingo provides a single Check Button for use in Microsoft Word that combines a homophone dictionary, thesaurus, reference dictionary and spellchecker, making the checking of your text and documents easier and more comprehensive.

If a word is a homophone the Homophone Check Box will appear, along with meanings. If the word has alternative words with the same or similar meaning, the Meaning Check Box will appear. You can then view more to see the dictionary definition. You can spell check individual words or the whole of your document at any point.

The Check Boxes are fully speech enabled, so hovering the mouse over the words will make them speak. We also have over 2000 picture icons to help with word meanings.

NOTE: Some check features only work when checking English words.

During the install process the software checks to make sure your system meets these minimum requirements. If you do not meet the requirements, the software will not be installed.
